Nationally recognized for high quality, affordable care

Among top 2 percent of U.S. hospitals under 100 beds for safe, value-based care
We were recognized among 100 SafeCare Hospitals® under 100 beds by The SafeCare Group in 2016 for our value-based care, low readmissions and low complications of care; ranking in the top two percent of small hospitals nationwide (No. 18 out of 744 general acute care hospitals that were assessed). 100 SafeCare Hospitals® represent the nation's top performing hospitals in 40 evidence-based metrics of the Affordable Care Act related to quality of care, patient safety and efficiency of care. Hugh Chatham is the only North Carolina hospital under 100 beds named to the list.
In addition, Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital maintained an "A" grade for patient safety in the 2016 Hospital Safety Score published by The Leapfrog Group. The hospital has now received an "A" grade in five consecutive semiannual reporting periods. Hospital Safety Scores are calculated for hospitals nationwide under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon expert panel, using 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data.
Named 'Region's Best Hospital' by Women
We received the 2016 Women's Choice Award® for Region's Best Hospital for Surry, Wilkes, Allegheny, Yadkin, Davie, Alexander and Iredell counties in North Carolina. Hospitals are selected for this prestigious award based on a proprietary scoring process that assesses the relative performance of all hospitals in the region. Consideration is given to Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient satisfaction scores and performance on patient safety and emergency care measures. A Region's Best Hospital must also provide a full complement of medical services and carry more accreditations than their nearby competitors.

Our Primary Stroke Center received the 2016 Get With the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus award and Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite recognition from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association confirming our dedication to fostering the best possible outcomes.
