The BirthPlace -
Single Room Maternity Care
The BirthPlace at HCMH offers single room maternity care and continuous mother-baby care where you are able to labor, deliver and recover and remain in the same room. Each comfortable labor-delivery-recover-postpartum room is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for the care and safety of mother and baby.

The staff is highly skilled. For example, we have two lactation consultants who hold international board certifications.
We have nurses certified in OB nursing and low-risk neonatal care. We have lots of experience in fetal monitoring, as well. (For a look at babies' born here in the last 90 days, click on "New Arrivals.")

Frequently Asked Questions
Q.  Will I get to stay in the same room the entire time I am admitted?
A.   Hopefully, almost everyone gets to stay in the birthing rooms for at least 24 hours after the birth of          their baby.

Q.  Will my baby get to stay with me the entire time?
A.    As long as your baby does not need special care, he/she can stay in your room the entire           hospitalization.
Q.  Can my family visit me?
A.   We have an open visiting policy. You can have whoever you want to visit as long as they are not         sick.

Q.  Can I breastfeed my baby exclusively?
A.    You can breastfeed without any formula or pacifiers if that is your choice. Our nurses encourage           breastfeeding.
Q.  Can I be out of bed and walk during labor?
A.   As long as you & the baby are tolerating labor we encourage you to be up walking or in the         rocking chair. We also encourage you to get in the bathtub to ease the discomforts of labor.
