At Hugh Chatham we achieve excellence through collaboration, or, by embracing our core value of TEAMWORK. After all, no single individual or department can create an exceptional experience for our patients on their own – it takes our entire Hugh Chatham “village!”

In the words of American Industrialist, Andrew Carnegie, “Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” This week’s Hugh Chatham Way Highlight focuses on someone who routinely collaborates with her fellow team members, is a role model for others in terms of her own diligence, and with equal parts confidence and grace, guides her patients through times of stress and uncertainty. Join me in celebrating 3rd Floor Registered Nurse, Heather Mooneyhan.

Melissa Bryant, 3rd Floor Clinical Nurse Manager, said “Heather is very kind and courteous to her patients. She always takes time to listen to their concerns and ensures they have the best care provided.” Teresa Southard, RN, continues, noting that “Heather is a caring, compassionate nurse and a patient advocate. She is a very dependable team member and is always eager to assist coworkers.”

Thank you Heather, for your strength, generosity, and compassionate care you provide to each and every patient under your care. They are in exceptionally good hands!

Q & A with Heather

How did you come to Hugh Chatham?
“My aunt worked here and every time we saw each other she would encourage me to come to Hugh Chatham. She always had the best things to say about her coworkers and the hospital in general. I had been at my current job for years and needed a change so I applied and got the job. I wasn’t completely prepared to work with COVID patients but I know it’s where I’m supposed to be. I took a leap of faith to come here but God has made it all possible. There are blessings upon blessings at every shift.”

What are some of your clinical interests?
“I’m really interested in taking care of COVID patients and learning how to treat them. Sometimes we are able to see patterns and the physicians are really great to work with us on figuring out the best options for them. I also enjoy geriatrics and taking care of them during the last stages of their lives.”

How do you and your team exhibit STARS?
“I feel like we exhibit all of these every day but especially teamwork. One person can’t do it all. You have to rely on each other. We do this to provide the best service possible.”

What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy spending time with my girls and my husband and have had more time to do that since I came to Hugh Chatham. In 2021, we took a lot of time to check things off of our bucket list as a family. I also enjoy reading and refinish old furniture.
