Coretta Scott King, American Author and wife of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, quoted, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” This week’s Hugh Chatham Way Highlight focuses on someone who is genuinely invested in the wellbeing of others, and demonstrates her love of community through selfless acts of kindness. This week we celebrate Public Safety Screener, Becky Wing – a true and vibrant example of our core value of Service! Becky warmly greets patients and visitors into our hospital, engages with her team members, and instantly brings people a sense of belonging and comfort. It is not uncommon to see her with her crotchet needles creating hats and items for her co-workers. Why does she do this? To simply say “you’re appreciated”.
Public Safety Supervisor, Emily Peterson, said this about Becky, “Becky has a servant’s heart and is so willing to jump in and help anyway and anywhere. She has moved around and helped in many areas as we have worked through the COVID surges. Becky is an encourager and greets everyone she meets with a smile. We are thankful for her!” Emily Ruiz, Communications Coordinator, quoted, “Even when she has her mask on, you can always tell that she greets people with the biggest smile. Becky is the kind of person who will make sure everyone is taken care of even if she had a bad day. She is a great friend to all and truly makes my morning when I see her and hear ‘Hey Darling!’ What I adore most about Becky is she wants to make sure everyone feels important and loves people in such a great way.”
Thank you, Becky, for showing up each day for our patients and team members, lifting our spirits, and making anyone who enters Hugh Chatham feel like a most special guest.
