LUCUS TATE, RN, BSN

3RD FLOOR, HUGH CHATHAM MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

Washington Irving, a famous American author, said “A kind heart is a fountain of gladness, making everything in its vicinity freshen into smiles.” This week’s Hugh Chatham Way Highlight focuses on a special team member who provides exceptional service with a smile to all he encounters. Join me in celebrating 3rd floor team member, Lucus Tate, RN – a true example of our core values of Service and Teamwork.

Melissa Bryant, Clinical Nurse Manager, said “Lucus provides exceptional care to his patients. He is also a nurse preceptor. Lucus has had a positive impact on the GAIN Program (nurse internship program). To ensure that the nurse interns were familiar with documentation requirements and routines of the unit, Lucus developed a checklist for the interns to use as a resource. One of the interns said during rounds that “Lucus is a great teacher and he really wants us to be successful.”

Dana Billings, 3rd floor RN, continues by saying “Lucus is a great coworker and is always willing to go above and beyond to help in any situation. He is such a nice and polite person. It is always a joy to work with him.”

Lucus, we appreciate the many ways you support and encourage our patients, guests, and fellow team members. Your positivity and effortless ability to make others feel welcome makes Hugh Chatham a better place. We are proud to have you as a part of our team.

Q & A with Lucus

How did you come to Hugh Chatham?
After I graduated I had to decide which community I wanted to be a part of and contribute to. Hugh Chatham has always had a great reputation, which made the decision to join the team and the Elkin community very easy.

What are your clinical interests?
I’m most interested in preventive care. Teaching and providing resources to patients so they can improve their overall health to prevent disease and illness is my favorite part of the job.

How do you and your team exhibit STARS?
Everyone I work with is a team player. Not only does it make hard work easier, it keeps our patients safe.

What do you like to do for fun?
Lately I’ve been having a lot of fun flipping over rocks and looking for bugs with my kids. But watching TV is my true passion.
