Every day our team members ensure exceptional care and service for each and every patient who walks through our doors. Some of our People work behind the scenes, supporting others so that Hugh Chatham is prepared to tackle any challenge with confidence. This week’s Hugh Chatham Way Highlight focuses on a team member who goes above and beyond for our medical staff, securing the safest environment and BEST results for our patients. Her accountability and willingness to serve is always paired with a warm, bubbly attitude and an undeniable need to help others. Join me in congratulating Larkin Bell, Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist.

Larkin truly defines the word specialist. She is meticulous with her work and is passionate about educating others on the importance of credentialing. Whether its supporting a provider’s needs or assisting the administrative team, the job will be executed at the highest level and delivered with a smile. She dots her I’s and crosses your T’s, with one goal in mind – delivering safe, quality care.

Laura Oakes, Director of Market Development, Integration, and Recruitment said, “Not many people understand the importance or complexity of Larkin’s role. Her job ensures that the providers we are bringing into the organization have been thoroughly vetted and will provide the highest level of care to our patients. We currently have 285 providers credentialed on our medical staff and Larkin interacts with each and every one. Her role requires great attention to detail, something that she is exceptional at. While her position is one that is demanding, she always has a smile on her face. She is a true example of the Hugh Chatham Way!”

We attribute the success of Hugh Chatham to those who embody these characteristics and our core values of Service, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect, and Safe Care (STARS) freely and naturally. Larkin is a professional who triple checks her work and values our organization above all else. Thank you, Larkin, for being an invaluable resource and for partnering with Hugh Chatham in providing exceptional care.

Q & A with Larkin

How did you get started at Hugh Chatham?
“I initially came to work at Hugh Chatham in 2010 as a Surgical Tech in the OR.  I worked as a clinical assistant in an OB/GYN office for three years after college and was eager to learn more and gain hands-on experience. Hugh Chatham had a position posted and was willing to invest the time in training me. This was one of the best decisions I ever made. I can’t believe that was 11 years ago! I have since moved to my position now, and I love it.”

What are some of your favorite things to do in your role?
“One of my favorite aspects of my role here at Hugh Chatham is working with different departments, physicians, and managers. I have gotten to know some wonderful individuals here in the organization who care as much about quality and safety as I do.”

How do you exemplify STARS?
“In my role, I am behind the scenes, and many people don’t fully understand what I do, but it plays a massive part in the safety of our organization. I truly love the work that I do and feel accountable for each provider who is credentialed here. Knowing that I come to work and contribute to making a difference in patient care here is priceless. I enjoy many things about my job, but being dependable and reliable are two things I want to be known for – always!”

What do you like to do for fun?
“If I am not at work, you can find me spending time with my husband, son, and our two dogs. We like to swim, ride bikes, and travel when we get the chance.”
