Professor and author, Stephen Covey, said “Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.” This week’s Hugh Chatham Way Highlight focuses on a team member who is trustworthy, supportive, and considerate. She is always willing to help a fellow team member and is a true asset to the billing office team. Join me in celebrating Elisha Somers, Physician Services Coding Coordinator.

Angela Luffman, Physician Services Revenue Cycle Manager, said “Elisha is a pleasure to work with. Her knowledge and expertise are invaluable assets to the centralized billing office. She has been instrumental in developing and improving workflow processes. Her can-do attitude and willingness to assist team members and patients alike are just a couple of the many reasons that make her more than deserving of this recognition.”

Anna Robinson, Revenue Cycle Director, continues by saying “Elisha is well deserving of this recognition and is a tremendous asset to the physician services billing team. As the Physician Services Coding Coordinator; Elisha is instrumental in ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the daily coding procedures within Greenway. Elisha is very responsive and accountable and always has a kind, sweet, smile on her face and willing to help support in any way. Thank you Elisha for all you do to support the Hugh Chatham Medical Group and Physician Services Billing Team!”

Q & A with Elisha

How did you come to Hugh Chatham?
I started at Mountain View Medical Center in 2008. When Hugh Chatham obtained the practice in 2013, I moved to the centralized billing office on campus here. Everyone has been so friendly and helpful

What led you to a career in healthcare?
I have always loved helping people. I started going to a nursing program right out of high school but leaned more to the clerical side of healthcare so I switched to medical assisting. I worked the front desk for three years before moving into the coding/billing side. I love what I do now.

How do you and your team exhibit STARS?
My team is awesome! Everyone works together so well to get a project completed. I know if I need help, I can ask any of my team members and they wouldn’t hesitate to help. We are all very focused on getting the visits billed out correctly so the patient doesn’t get a statement for something they shouldn’t be.

What do you like to do for fun?
I love spending time with my husband and my 3 dogs. I love gardening… we are getting cucumbers and squash out of the garden right now. We are expecting our first child in a couple of months so we are over the moon waiting for her arrival.
