Hugh Chatham Health has been recognized as one of 153 “Great Community Hospitals” by Becker’s Hospital Review, a trade magazine and website for the healthcare industry.
“The community hospitals selected are distinguished by their clinical excellence, compassionate care and economic impact on their communities,” officials with Hugh Chatham said.
Hugh Chatham Health has been recognized nationally for its care, including The Joint Commission’s “Advanced” Total Hip & Knee Replacement designation and its recent designation as a “5-star” program by Healthgrades. In 2022, Hugh Chatham Health ranked among the top 15% of hospitals nationwide for patient satisfaction, and this year has received Women’s Choice Awards for both Obstetrics and Stroke care. The region’s first Joint Commission certified stroke center, Hugh Chatham Health recently received the highest distinction possible from the American Heart and Stroke Associations with “Gold Plus — Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite” status.
Through efforts to expand access to healthcare, Hugh Chatham Health’s 29 physician clinics and its home health agency — Hugh Chatham Health at Home — will provide care across more than 270,000 distinct patient care visits this year, across 17 counties in the Yadkin Valley and Virginia, the health system officials said.
“Hugh Chatham Health is committed to providing exceptionally safe, high-quality healthcare in a manner that recognizes the distinct needs of each patient,” said Paul Hammes, chief executive officer at Hugh Chatham. “We are honored to be recognized as one of Becker’s Great Community Hospitals and could not have achieved this recognition without the inspiration, commitment and hard work from our 1,000+ team members.”
Anna Falvey, a representative of Becker’s Healthcare, stated “Community hospitals are vital pieces of the overall healthcare system, expanding care access to patients who might otherwise need to travel great distances or face other barriers to care. While some of these hospitals serve large rural areas, others care for smaller suburban communities.”
Becker’s Healthcare selects hospitals based on outside rankings and ratings organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
