The strategic exploration process signifies a commitment to ensuring the best future for local healthcare
Elkin, NC, November 12, 2024 – Driven by a deep commitment to serving the community’s healthcare needs for almost a century, Hugh Chatham Health is excited to announce the start of its search for a partner to preserve and enhance the high-quality care it provides to its community through the addition of critical resources along with strategic investments in clinical programs and its people.
“While in a position of relative strength, the time is now to proactively explore options that ensure we are well-positioned to keep our community promise for generations to come,” said Hugh Chatham Health Board of Trustees Chair Cynthia Gonzalez. “Our Board of Trustees and Executive Leadership are focused on ensuring the best future for local healthcare in the region.”
In the coming months, the Board of Trustees and health system leaders will meet with organizations to apply the following criteria to identify the right partner who shares our deep commitment to patient care, community engagement, and innovation in healthcare delivery:
- Quality of Care: Commitment to high-quality care, patient safety, and clinical excellence.
- Financial Stability: Long-term financial vitality and commitment to resource investment.
- Purchasing Power: Able to lower the cost of care through purchasing power at scale.
- Geographic Proximity: Enable convenient, seamlessly coordinated access to all levels of care.
- Cultural Alignment: A genuine commitment to community-focused, patient-centered care, in a positive work environment.
“Partnerships with other healthcare organizations can provide numerous benefits that foster financial stability and provide additional resources to meet the evolving needs of our community,” said Hugh Chatham Health CEO Paul Hammes. “By partnering with a system that shares our commitment to caring for the community, we will have increased access to resources that allow us to continue to make investments in the community, our services, and our people.”
Patients and the community need to know that nothing changes for them at this time, and they may continue to see the same doctors they know and trust. Patients and community members are encouraged to submit any questions they have to info@hughchatham.org.
