Hugh Chatham Healthearned the Best Hospital for Emergency Care Award by having an above-average patient recommendation rate and consistently ranking in the top 25-50 percent of the hospitals reporting on their emergency department’s performance to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The five measures CMS publicly reports relate primarily to the amount of time taken in the ER such as time spent in the ER, time to admission, percentage of patients who leave before being seen, timely care for stroke symptoms, and adherence to quality bundled care for sepsis, and are weighted according to the priorities of women surveyed. Hugh Chatham Health is recognized for ranking in the top 6% for Emergency Care in the nation.
Hugh Chatham Health also earned the Best Hospitals for Stroke Care Award by meeting high standards for stroke care including holding a Stroke Center Certification by the Joint Commission (JC). Hospitals that meet the stroke center certification requirement, must then meet or exceed the following performance measures from the CMS: Hospitals must also score in the top 80% of all hospitals in the percentage of patients receiving Head CT scan results within 45 minutes, cannot have received a rating of Worse than the National Rate for the Deaths from Serious Treatable Complications measure, and have a patient recommendation score greater than or equal to the national average.Hugh Chatham Health is recognized for ranking in the top 10% for Stroke Care in the nation.
