Elkin, NC, May 11, 2021 – Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital has opened a new office for Endocrinology and Diabetes patients. A ribbon cutting and open house event was held on April 29 for the new office located at 360 Parkwood Dr., Elkin. The practice, operated by Dr. Paul Gulley, MD and Shannon Hall, FNP-C, opened its doors on April 5.
During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Director of Practice Operations Leann Hooker, said that since opening the office had already seen 146 patients, 65 of whom were new to the practice. In addition to local Elkin patients, the practice also sees patients from Mount Airy, Wilkesboro and Galax. Hooker added that the staff will “strive to deliver 100% quality care and services to the community.” Also speaking during the ceremony were Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital CEO Paul Hammes as well as Elkin Mayor Sam Bishop. Hammes thanked all the hospital staff for job excellence during these difficult times and the town officials and residents for their support. Bishop noted how HCMH has been supportive of the community with recent initiatives including the “Mask the Valley” campaign to encourage mask wearing and safety protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic as well as administering COVID-19 vaccines.
The new Endocrinology office opening means that HCMH will now see 170,000 patient visits just for clinics in a year with a total of 24 clinic offices in five counties and two states.
