Cardiac Rehabilitation
The Hugh Chatham Cardiac Rehabilitation program is medically supervised and designed to help reduce your risk of coronary artery disease.
Recovery starts now. This is the time to decide if you want to help your heart.
Our team of experienced professionals on the Cardiac Rehab team are here to help you understand your risk factors for heart disease, give you the tools to modify your lifestyle habits, and support you on your journey to a healthier heart.
The program monitors your vital signs, EKG rhythms, and exercise tolerance.
Heart & Lung Center
The Heart & Lung Rehab Gym is located on the main floor of Hugh Chatham Health. We offer a variety of exercise equipment and exercise prescriptions tailored to meet your individual needs.
Clients have access to a state-of-the-art telemetry monitoring system that allows the Cardiac Rehab staff to view the heart rate and rhythm of each client during exercise. This helps us provide safer, more effective care to recovering heart patients. The program is conducted in a group setting, allowing for emotional support and socialization with others who have similar conditions. Our goal is to help you learn how to live a heart-healthy life!

First, a cardiac rehabilitation staff member will obtain your resting blood pressure and resting heart rate. You will wear a heart monitor during exercise. For the next 30 to 60 minutes, you will exercise on a motor-driven treadmill, NuStep recumbent stepper, or stationary Airdyne bike at a pace comfortable for you. After you complete your exercises, a staff member will obtain your exercise blood pressure and remove your heart monitor.
Yes, we offer a variety of different tools and equipment that allow you to exercise your heart effectively.
The program schedule is for 36 visits over 12 to 18 weeks. After you’ve completed those 36 visits, you become eligible to enroll in the Maintenance Program.
This allows you to continue with cardiac rehab therapy on a yearly basis after you’ve completed your 36 visits. There is a small fee per visit.
